Day 22

Baine and I were able to visit a church this morning and Denver, and then Baine went climbing with Patrick while I spent the day with Megan and Sarah! We are heading to Red Rocks tomorrow, making a couple stops on the way, to FINALLY start some real climbing!

Sarah let us use her dehydrator to make some snacks for the road. I plan on investing in one of these soon. Very soon.

Day 21

We got to ski at Loveland today, thanks to some friends who got us some buddy passes. I only got to ski a half day...I spent the afternoon in the van with a stomach bug (which explains why the picture from today is from the van). But the morning was great--VERY windy!!! It was fun to ski with Pat and Sarah-of course, Sarah was a BALLA on the board and is gonna be hittin' up the half pipe in no time!

Day 20

Interviews and meetings in Fort Collins today. I forgot to take a picture there, so here's a picture of Sarah's dog, Huck, instead.

Day 19

Good morning, Denver!!

Megan and Mitch came over and we made Aunt Retha's famous sugar cookies... We added the icing and sprinkles, of course!

Day 18

We made it to Denver last night! We did some work during the day and then we got to climb with Patrick and Sarah at their sick gym.

Day 15

Great day of skiing!!! Snowing all afternoon and night which means fresh powder tomorrow! Crush.

Day 14

TAOS! We had a great morning hiking to the hot springs just north of Taos. We met up with the Breauxs, who drove all night to make it here today. We ate a HUGE, delicious lunch at Ricky's. After lunch we all went back with everyone for some more hot spring action. Skiing tomorrow!

Manby Hot Springs-next to the Rio Grande

Great view!

This was not planned. I don't know how he got such a money shot out of being caught off guard--but I think it's pretty fantastic.

Day 13

After Granbury we drove to Wichita Mountains Wildlife Reserve in Oklahoma. We spent the night in the park, and we were planning to climb today, but (of course) the weather had other plans. We did get to see some crazy bison up close and personal (a little too close for my preference), longhorns, and lots of prairie dogs. We drove the 10 hours to Taos and got a good night's sleep in the hotel parking lot!

Day 12

Granbury! We spent last night and most of the day today visiting with Grandaddy (and Trixie). We got to see one of his students in her voice lesson and look through some old pictures. Check out the little blonde with her cat- yep, I was a blonde. Now we're on our way now to Oklahoma to try and get one day of climbing in before Taos.

Day 11

We got to meet with some friends for coffee, who graciously let us borrow some of their guide books-which will be returned in pristine condition :) The rest of the day was spent driving to Granbury and visiting with Grandaddy... stories to follow.

Day 10

Finally made it back on the wall today! It seems like we've been in Austin forever (without even being able to climb half the time). We're pretty ready to get out of here and continue on to the next leg. Fortunately we have some friends who stock piled us with amazing cookies for the road (Thanks, Shannon!!!), and Baine got to do a few runs with soon to be marathoner Chris White--google that.

Chris and Baine finished their V-day RUN! <3

These cookies were too good for rilz

Day 9

Today we got to visit with Baine's great-uncle near Round Rock and get some things done for our potential professors/employers in Fort Collins. Still no climbing due to coldness and injury, but hoping to make it out there tomorrow. We're getting pretty antsy. We did get to visit the Texas Memorial Museum... I took this picture for Dani. Now that's a geode! Waka waka

Day 8

It snowed today! I tried to get a picture, but the snow wasn't sticking to anything. My ankle is doing so much better-I am able to walk on it a little more with minimal pain. We walked/hobbled around UT campus today. Even without my busted ankle I don't think I would have wanted to climb today...snow and climbing don't mix for me. I am looking forward to the Breaux ski trip coming up, though! Just a few more days!

You can almost see the snow on the car...

Day 7 (continued)

Austin downtown Farmers Market!

We also had an amazing brunch (not pictured) at Chris and Shannon's today. I also learned what a spiralizer is, and that I need one.

Day 7

Sad news today... Gris Gris has passed away. He was a good dog and the cutest puppy.

Day 6 (continued)

Aiana String Quartet at the Austin Public Library

Day 6

Due to my sprained ankle and the morning showers, we decided today would be our "rest day"...so we visited the state capitol! Not as fun as climbing, but a good day, nonetheless.
